1. What is the Campaign?

The campaign is the Kids Eyes Count Campaign by Vision First Foundation.  It's the name of our action plan that fulfills our missionto raise the standards of eye care for our children's visual welfare. The Campaign is simple and easy.  By following three simple steps, you can be a part of our mission, too.

2. What does "Join the Campaign" mean?

"Join" means to participate, connect, or unite.  "Join the Campaign" means to be a part of our mission to better the eye care for all children. For example, you can do this by supporting Vision First and by using the Vision First campaign materials.

3. What are the "standard" and "custom" versions of the campaign materials?

The Vision First report forms and fact sheets are available as standard or custom versions.  “Standard” is for a single copy or mulitple copies without the need for approval for distribution.  "Custom" allows schools, organizations, and eye doctors to add their name to the Vision First documents once they have been approved for distribution.  Custom documents are usually printed in quantity.

You can tell if it's a standard or custom document by looking at the bottom of the page.  Each document is labeled in the bottom right corner as either "standard" or "custom."

4. How are the prewritten letters and custom documents completed?

The prewritten letters (i.e., vision screening letters, referral letters, eye exam letters) and custom documents are in a PDF format as a form.  Each prewritten letter and custom document has an open or unlocked space.  Just click each gray/blue section, insert your information, and you're ready to print your copies.  If you need further help, please contact us here...

5. I don't have a color printer or copy machine.  Can I print or Xerox the prewritten letters, forms, and fact sheets in black and white?

Yes!  You may print or Xerox the prewritten letters, forms, and fact sheets in black and white.  We understand many people do not have color printers and copy machines.  You may also print black and white copies on colored paper of your choice.

6. Can a printing company print the forms and fact sheets downloaded from your website?

Yes!  All forms and fact sheets are in the correct format for quality printing by a computer or professional print shop.

7. I don’t live in Illinois.  Can I use the Preschool and Student Comprehensive Eye and Vision Examination Report?

Yes!  When you download the form, choose the universal "US" version.  The code is found in the bottom right corner of the form.

Vision First hopes all parents, schools, and eye doctors across the nation use our Preschool and Student Comprehensive Eye and Vision Examination Report. The Vision First report exceeds state standards.

8. Can Vision First create custom forms and letters for my state like it did for Illinois?

Yes, we can, but only if your state enacted legislation requiring vision screening notification or required eye examinations by an eye doctor.

If you would like your state to reference its state law or Public Act in the Vision First documents, please contact us here...

9. My state requires an eye examination before entering kindergarten.  Can I submit the Vision First Student Comprehensive Eye and Vision Examination Report to the school?

If your state requires an eye examination before starting school, you need to find out if a special vision report in needed for proof of completing the required eye exam.  If your state requires a special vision report form, please use that form.  However, parents and eye doctors can still use the Vision First report form in addition to any special form required by a state law.  The Vision First form has many benefits not found on any state form.

10. My local PTA/teachers union would like to introduce your proposed resolution.  How do we get started?

The first step is to find out what the requirements are for a proposed resolution.  (e.g., When is the deadline for submissions?  Does the resolutions committee require background material to accompany the resolution?  If so, how many references are required for each “Whereas” statement and must they be within a certain time limit?  Is there a page limit for the submitted background material?)

Since the proposed resolution does not call for presentation at a national convention, we recommend you follow the guidelines and requirements for your state PTA or teachers union.  For further information or assistance, please contact us here...

11. I’d like to initiate legislation that copies the vision laws of Illinois.  How do I begin?

The first step is to contact your state senator or representative.  Share your personal experience and interest in raising the standards of eye care for our children’s visual welfare.

If your legislator is willing to become involved, please refer him/her to our website and contact Janet Hughes here...  We will help you get your law passed.

12. How do I join the Campaign?

Since Vision First is a non-profit public charity, there are no dues or membership fees to join our Kids Eyes Count Campaign.  All campaign materials are available on our website free of charge.

Please show your support and appreciation for Vision First.  Your donation is 100% tax-deductible as provided by law.  Thank you in advance for making Vision First a part of your charitable contributions.

Thank you for joining us in our Campaign.
